Prison population on the rise

There are more than 1.5 million inmates in the nation’s state and federal prisons, a number that is projected to grow to more than 1.7 million by the end of 2011, a 13 percent increase. The nation’s population, by comparison, is projected to grow by 4.5 percent in that time.

For the official record: Colbert is NOT hosting Grammy awards

Post writer Leslie Gray Streeter blogged today that she was able to verify through a CBS spokesperson that Colbert is NOT hosting the Grammy awards.

After personally calling the same spokesperson, I feel confident in saying that the rumors of Colbert’s hosting have been greatly exaggerated.
